Call Out Notes

*This is from the handout given to all wrestlers Wednesday, October 19th:

1. Open mat Monday will continue, October 31st and November 7th, 14th, and 21st from 3:05-4:30. Open mat is optional.

2. Regular wrestling practice begins Monday November 28th, 3:00-5:00. You should be picked up at 5 o’clock sharp! I can not leave until you are picked up.

3. We will practice Monday through Thursday until Christmas break and then Monday through Friday beginning January 2nd.

4. YOU MUST HAVE A PHYSICAL ON FILE TO PRACTICE!!! GET ONE NOW!!!

5. We will NOT practice during Christmas break or on the “early release” Wednesdays in December. After Christmas break we will practice every day Monday through Friday 3-5.

6. Beginning November 28th, show up at practice with shorts, t-shirt, wrestling shoes, and headgear every day if you intend to be on the team. If you come every day and do YOUR VERY BEST, you are a member of the HHMS wrestling team. There are no cuts. If you do not come to practice every day however you WILL NOT wrestle in meets.

7. Varsity positions are determined by wrestle-offs. The final wrestle-offs will be in front of parents and fans during our Orange and White meet on Tuesday January 10th.

8. The available wrestlers on the opposing team determine junior varsity matches. I have no way to know if they have matches for everyone prior to that evening’s meet.

9. Middle School night for high school wrestling will be Wednesday December 14th. All wrestlers get in free.

10. Work on keeping your grades up now. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

11. Husky wrestling is the most successful sports program at Hamilton Heights. Through hard work and dedication you can help it remain so.

12. Wrestling is a GREAT sport, but it is hard. You need be prepared to be pushed to your full capability!

13. A $35 fee is due by the first week of practice in December. This pays for transportation, your wrestling t-shirt, and shorts. This is the only cost for wrestling, but you should purchase your own shoes and head gear. The least expensive shoes are just fine! If you cannot afford shoes or head gear, please see me as I have some I can loan out. There will be other wrestling wear available for sale later.
